Oath for GEAR Mentors

On my Honour,

I swear that I shall , at all times and places , in thought, word and deed , live up to the high ideals and dignity of the noble profession of teaching;

I shall

see myself as a friend, philosopher and guide to the learners in my care , recognizing all the while that I am no less a learner myself . I shall strive to empower them to actualize their individual potentials to a maximum in a manner that will lead to social and national transformation . I will strive to communicate to each child that along with a dream, she has given the power to realize that dream. It shall be my endeavor to build her confidence and belief in both herself and her dreams. I shall strive not to pass judgment, but to understand and to see the unique greatness of each child.
I shall

care for every child without any show of partiality or favour - however, I shall not ,at the same time,hesitate to confront her and tell her things she doesn't like ,if I genuinely believe such feed back to be in her best interest .

Towards these ends

I shall continue to invest in myself and develop the golden skills of love, kindness and patience without which I will be unable to make any impact in this noble line.

I will

remain ever aware of the power I have over the children and their vulnerability and innocent trust in me, and not misuse these on any occasion. I shall lead, them in the right way.

I will not try to be popular and earn favours or appreciation from the children by any unethical or unfair means. The popularity I may gain or the favours I may be offered will be used only to further the cause of children.

Finally, I will not

permit considerations of nationality or religion, prejudice or material advancement to intervene in any way with my work and my duty to the present and future generations. - from EKLAVYA (modified)
