CIPE : CREATIVE, INVENTIVE, and PRODUCTIVE EXCELMENT
AS A PART OF MAINSTREAM EDUCATION AND AS A SPECIAL SERVICE TO THE HIGH ABILITY KIDS
For a better future we need to understand the present, visualize the future, gauge the gap and plan to bridge the gap. Let us see what our mainstream education today is and what it should be to make education meaningful and productive.
It is easy to pick holes in a system and when one does it to suggest an alternative system where in children of varied backgrounds [urban/rural, rich/poor, average ability/high ability, working class/upper class, ....] can learn more with the same resources and investing the same amount of time, it may deserve a positive look. This system addresses the child as a unique individual capable of mastering different things at different levels of achievement. This system makes the best use of the child's intelligence types, learning styles and the local resources easily available. For a high ability kid the present system is anything but effective. Most of the times these children learn despite schooling. The average child in the urban area goes to school under pressure where as a rural child revolts by refusing to go to school or simply shamming. In the proposed CIPE model most of these problems can be avoided and a differentiated education can take place.
The teachers will be engaged in promoting learning rather than providing learning. They will be indirectly compelled to engage in learning to innovate and be a guide to the kids and become a perpetual learner. CIPE projects demand the teacher to be on their toes and can enhance the creative, inventive and productive thinking potential of the kids and their learning will be self-directed and research based. They will learn like a scientist or a professional constructing his knowledge. The learning area will not be limited to the classrooms; the school will extend beyond walls into the community.
CIPE EDUCATION in short, is developing CIPE PROJECTS to implement a DYNAMIC CURRICULUM suited to the local resources, set up and climate. This will be managed by creating different levels of teachers like Learning Innovators, Learning Coordinators, Learning Directors and Learning Facilitators.
